More than 4000 items are borrowed from Melbourne’s city libraries every day, and a local author’s mystery novels top the list of most-borrowed books this year.

Two of Melbourne author Jane Harper’s mystery novels top the list of most borrowed books from Melbourne city’s libraries in 2018.
Harper’s first books Force of Nature and The Dry are the most popular among library users, followed by AJ Finn’s Woman In The Window.

The former Herald Sun reporter has broken the stranglehold of Paula Hawkins’ mystery thriller The Girl On The Train which was the most popular book for two years in a row.
Scott Pape’s best-selling Barefoot Investor is the fourth most popular read, down from his No. 2 spot in 2017.
Nonfiction books dominate the library books that are most reserved or most requested. Leigh Sales’s Any Ordinary Day and Michelle Obama’s Becoming were most in demand in 2018.
About 4000 items are borrowed every day from the City of Melbourne’s six libraries.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp said the city’s libraries were experiencing a resurgence in popularity.
“We’ve opened three new libraries in the last six years — all with brand new book collections,’’ Cr Capp said.
Cr Capp is currently reading Adam Spencer’s Top 100.
