BRUNSWICK MP Jane Garrett is preparing to return to State Parliament after spending four months recovering from breast cancer surgery.
Colleagues have rallied around the young Labor MP since she revealed in November she had joined “many other women in a fight against breast cancer”.
At the time, Ms Garrett released a statement saying an operation had been successful but that she would need to take some time off for treatment.
Ms Garrett confirmed she was expecting to head back to parliament when it sits on Tuesday, and said she was “looking forward to getting back to work”.

The 43-year-old had a turbulent 2016, which included quitting as emergency services minister in June at the height of the CFA industrial relations dispute.
Ms Garrett said she wanted to thank wellwishers and those who had lent support since she revealed her illness.
Some of Ms Garrett’s current colleagues have returned to work after battling breast cancer, including Minister for Women Fiona Richardson, and parliamentary secretary for education Judith Graley.
