ISLAMIC STATE has announced notorious Melbourne terrorist Ezzit Raad was killed fighting with the terrorist group.
The Herald Sun revealed Raad left Australia with his brother Majed, months after being released following his involvement in what was then Australia’s biggest terrorism plot.
The terror groups new propaganda magazine has devoted four pages to the terrorist, once from Brunswick.
It claimed Raad died in July in the Syrian city of Manbij after being hit by shrapnel.
He left his bride in Melbourne around 2012 and the magazine claims he was one of the first terror fighters to enter the “epic battlefield”.
The bloodthirsty Raad recruited others to his cause in Syria, including fellow terrorism convict Amer Haddara, who was also jailed in the Pendennis terrorism plot.
Raad also had a vital role in recruiting his 18-year-old brother-in-law, Adam Dahman, who blew himself up outside a Shiite Mosque in Baghdad.
According to the terror group’s magazine, Raad rose quickly in the ranks of jihadis becoming a boss of an area. He also spent time on administrative work.
He was forced into the battlefield after the terror group had significant loss of territory.
Raad fought the Kurds and had risen to become a leader of an Islamic State battalion.
The magazine claims Raad become more solidified in his views of violent jihad while locked up for his role in the Pendennis terrorism plot.
Raad was sentenced to six years prison for his role.
He also become contemptuous for what he termed moderate imams, including Sheik Mohammed Omran, who leads the Hume Islamic Youth Centre.
A relative claimed Raad, 34, flew out on his passport.
ASIO has reportedly since revoked it.
For a period after he was freed it was also believed Raad was collecting benefits from the government.
Ezzit was in Syria with Majed and his younger brother Mounir — the fate of the other two Raads is not clear.
