She’s the au pair believed to be duping parents across Bayside Melbourne. Now her web of lies has roped in the glitzy Logies and an international soccer star, as more twists emerge in the bizarre story.

A devious au pair believed to be serial fraudster Samantha Azzopardi has claimed she attended the glitzy Logie awards and was studying to be a paramedic.

The Herald Sun can reveal that families fear the fraudster is using a network of fake social media accounts to pose as a legitimate au pair.

Brighton couple Glenn and Carnie Considine hired au pair “Harper” last month but discovered online warnings from other duped parents before she started the position.

The couple believe she is the same woman who allegedly stole the identity of a Brighton East mum, and used it while posing as a talent scout.

“Someone was looking over us because my mind just boggles about what has gone on,” Ms Considine said.

“It is really concerning. It has rocked a lot of families who hire au pairs.”

The mother-of-four had a 40-minute video call with the woman, who applied for the job on Facebook using an account she claimed belonged to her twin sister, Layla Evans.

The woman spun a tall story that she was a 17-year-old American-Australian who graduated high school at 15.

She also claimed to have attended the star-studded Logies, and used the same mobile phone number as the woman who posed as au pair Harper Hernandez and talent scout Coco.

In a surprise twist, Dutch soccer player-turned-model Thijs Bouma has been roped into the drama with his photos used on a dubious Facebook account that provided references for the au pair.

Under the name Tye Mauob, the bogus referee told Ms Considine that Harper was brilliant, responsible and trustworthy.

“She’s not lazy and she always find things to help with,” the referee, who Ms Considine believe is the fraud herself, said.

“She would always be welcome back into our family.”

The elaborate ruse unravelled when Ms Considine saw an online warning about the au pair, who has sparked a police probe into whether serial conman Samantha Azzopardi is in Melbourne.

She recognised the woman in the warning as the au pair she had hired.

In a bizarre back-and-forth Facebook exchange, Layla Evans told Ms Considine that her sister was not involved in the au pair scandal, and later said: “I’ve been told the (sic) keep out of it. And that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Ms Considine said the woman was “pretty brazen”.

“I just want her to be stopped,” she said.

“I think she will be motivated to continue because she has caused so much hysteria and attention from it. It’s just a matter of changing identity.”

The scandal has forced a popular au pair Facebook group, of which Layla Evans was a members, to overhaul its membership.

Its administrators are considering wiping the group and only allowing people who prove their identity to rejoin.

Irene Becker, founder of 99aupairs.com, said she would rather have fewer members than risk having possible frauds.

“At the moment, we only ask a couple of questions,” she said.

“But we are looking at the need to have an email address that we can verify.”
