Hot air balloon’s crash landing in Glen Iris backyard
Ten people have escaped injury as a hot air balloon made an emergency landing in a Glen Iris backyard. The Herald Sun captured all the drama in a series of dramatic pictures.

A hot-air balloon has made a dramatic crash landing in the backyard of a Glen Iris home this morning, after almost coming down on busy Toorak Rd.
The balloon, with 10 people on board, floated down into a Faircroft Ave property, just before 10am.
It’s the second balloon with Nova 100 branding to be forced to land in a suburban backyard in recent months.
Herald Sun photographer Alex Coppel witnessed the dramatic incident, chasing after the balloon as it attempted to land safely.
The balloon avoided making any serious damage to properties and missed hitting power lines.
Emergency services were called to the scene, with those on board assessed by paramedics, but no one was injured.

In February, two hot air balloons made emergency landings in Melbourne’s east on the same morning, with one ending up just metres from a home.
A balloon carrying 11 passengers came down in Terrara Rd, Vermont South about 8am — just moments after another carrying eight people was forced to land near the intersection of High Street Rd and Eastlink, Wantirna South.
