Highpoint Shopping Centre teenager cop kicker charged over another violent assault

JUST two months after a magistrate freed a 17-year-old over the public assault of a police officer, the teen is facing charges related to another violent incident.

A TEEN thug who walked free after viciously kicking a policeman in the head at Highpoint Shopping Centre while on probation has been charged following another violent assault last week.

Just two months ago a magistrate freed the 17-year-old boy and adjourned his case to December to not interrupt his VCE studies.

However, the troubled teen has once again thumbed his nose at the law after being arrested for an assault in Tarneit last week.

It’s alleged a 19-year-old man was assaulted by a group of people, including the cop basher, at a sport facility on Penrose Promenade on Thursday, May 10.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and head during the incident.

He is now in a stable condition.

The assault on the police officer occurred at Highpoint on Boxing Day.

The 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with affray, intentionally causing injury and assault by kicking.

The two males will appear at a Melbourne children’s court at a later date.

The latest revelations come after public outrage earlier this year when the teen was given just nine months’ probation without conviction for the brutal Boxing Day attack on the officer at Highpoint Shopping Centre.

The boy kicked the senior constable in the face as he was on his hands and knees detaining a shoplifter.

The teen’s case was adjourned to December to allow him to study.

He rushed towards the officer and kicked him in the head in an onslaught described as a “soccer kick”.

Police arrested the boy on December 29 and he was bailed days later, only to breach it and be locked up not even 24 hours later.

The boy was already on probation for home invasions and car theft at the time of the assault.

Under reporting restrictions in the Children’s Court designed to protect juvenile offenders, the Herald Sun is not allowed to identify the teen.
