Pilot injured after helicopter crashes into scrub in East Gippsland

Emergency crews have rushed to Stirling in East Gippsland to treat the pilot of a helicopter after it plunged into scrub this afternoon.

A helicopter has crashed in East Gippsland this afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to reports of the helicopter crash in Stirling, 60km north of Bairnsdale.

Authorities received calls about the incident shortly after 3pm.

Multiple SES crews, ambulances and the CFA attended the scene.

The circumstances of the incident remain unknown but the ATSB said the pilot of the Bell 206 helicopter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

“The ATSB will gather further information before determining whether to conduct an investigation into the accident,” a spokesman said.

Investigators from Victoria Police were told a helicopter crashed to the ground and rolled near Engineers Road in rugged terrain.
