A similar message was also on Eyewatch’s Port Phillip Police Service Area page on Monday.

In a statement today, Victoria Police said some stations had experienced issues with telephone systems, making it difficult for people to get through.

“In most cases members of the public are receiving missed calls from many different mobile numbers,” it said.

“An abusive voicemail is left or a text message to contact a police station.

“The issue has been escalated to telecommunications authorities and is being investigated.”
