A GUN safe has been dumped at a primary school car park and set alight in a bizarre case under police investigation.

A driver reversed their car into the Mary Mackillop Primary School carpark in Narre Warren North, dumping the gun safe and setting it alight with an unknown accelerate about 2am this morning.
MFB firefighters put out the fire.
The safe was found to be empty except some burnt clothing.
It is at this stage unclear who was driving the car or why they wanted to burn the safe.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police are trying to hunt down the owner.
