The body of a missing South Australian grandmother has been discovered in the northwest Victorian area where her abandoned car was found last month.

Colleen South had not been seen since her car was found crashed in a ditch at Bunguluke, near Wycheproof, on July 3.

Loved ones of Ms South confirmed the grim discovery on Monday.

“We are heartbroken and in shock,” Courtney Rose said on a Facebook page dedicated to finding the missing grandmother.

“Colleen’s body has unfortunately been located in a paddock tonight, 5km from where her car was found.

“We don’t have any answers on what has happened yet, but we will update you all once we do.

“Fly high our beautiful angel.”

The grandmother’s body was found near the Swan Hill-Charlton Rd about 4pm.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said it was located by a farmer in a paddock south of Mackies Road just before 4pm

“Police are on scene and investigations are ongoing,” the spokeswoman said.

Ms South’s belongings, including a purse, keys and clothes, were located a short distance from her car.

Police later said there was nothing suspicious about her disappearance but that there was concern for her welfare.

Her mobile phone was later found at Port Noarlunga, a beachside suburb of Adelaide.
