A grieving Melbourne mother and father have been delivered another devastating blow, just days after their 11-month-old baby girl died of a mystery illness.
A woman attempted to scam Jay and Dee Windross for $1000 at their most vulnerable time- while their daughter Amiyah was dying and they were appealing for public help.

PRECIOUS BABY AMIYAH PASSES AWAY
Late last week, Mr and Mrs Windross took to social media in a bid to find their lost phone which contained precious photos of their daughter, who was at the time in her last days at the Alfred.
Mrs Windross misplaced the Samsung at Chadstone and then someone picked it up and stole it.
The couple were desperate to find it.
But while they were spending their final 24-hours with their daughter, Mr Windross received a text which gave him hope.
“As we were spending time with Amiyah, registering in our minds the severity of the news and beginning to say our goodbyes to her, I received a text message from someone claiming to have Dee’s phone,” he said.
“This text message described serious remorse for picking up the phone and not returning it sooner.”
But the woman demanded $1000 cash to be deposited directly to her.
Taking time away from his daughter, Mr Windross contacted police who then found and interrogated the woman.
“It was a hoax,” Jay wrote on social media.
“They had seen our desperate situation, seen we had no problem paying a reward and used that to their advantage.
“Not only was it a complete and utter waste of my time, it was interrupting my final moments with my dying daughter.”
Amiyah died on Wednesday.
Police arrested and charged a 24-year-old Springvale woman with blackmail.
She will appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The grieving mother and father were deeply hurt by the woman’s deception.
“You are a pathetic excuse of a human and you deserve what’s coming,” Mr Windross said.
“We cannot begin to explain the hurt and emptiness we are already feeling, but to get this news has just broken us even more.
“This is not fair.
“I was originally trying to find compassion for this woman and the possible situation she might be going through to take this desperate step to embezzle money, but now I am sickened that this would actually be a thought in her mind, let alone act on it.”
The phone is still missing.
Anyone with information about its whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
