Actor and WWE star John Cena has been praised as “exceptionally hospitable” by the manager of a Greensborough bowling alley used as a location in the Hollywood film Ricky Stanicky.

But, in an interview with Fox FM’s Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody, the Oz Ten Pin Bowling Greensborough manager, named Andrew, hinted at Cena’s co-star Zac Efron being stand-offish.

Fevola said: “I feel like Zac would be the more personable one. I think John seems a bit stand-offish.”

Andrew replied: “I’ll be honest, we found the complete opposite. But they were both very good. John was exceptionally hospitable taking photos with some disability kids who had been sitting out the front for four hours. It was absolutely awesome.”

Asked by Box if Efron was “flirty” with women on set, Andrew said: “From talking to other people, if you’re a female you could talk to him a lot easier than if you were a male. That tells you a couple of things.”

Andrew said the Hollywood stars wore the house bowling shoes and used the venue’s bowling balls.

He said producers transformed the bowling alley and “we’ve actually kept most of the stuff ... it will be exactly the same as what it is in the movie.”

Ricky Stanicky is shooting in Melbourne until the end of March.

Last month, Efron sung the praises of Melbourne and vowed to do more film and TV projects in the Victorian capital.

“I would like to shoot things for the rest of my life here,” Efron said. “I hope this is the beginning of that.”

Efron also filmed parts of The Greatest Beer Run Ever and his Netflix doco Down To Earth in Melbourne.

“There’s great art out here, it’s a fantastic place to work,” he said. “You have

really great writers, directors and crews.”

Ricky Stanicky, helmed by There’s Something About Mary producers Peter Farrelly and Marc S. Fischer, co-stars Andrew Santino, William H. Macy, Jermaine Fowler and Jeff Ross.

Ricky Stanicky is about three friends who created an imaginary character named Ricky Stanicky to blame for their misbehaviour.

When their partners become suspicious, they’re forced to hire an actor to bring Stanicky to life.

Cena plays Stanicky.
