Molly Meldrum has sent his well wishes to Samuel Johnson, the man who portrayed him on screen, as he recovers after being hit by a car.

Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson has been flooded with support after it was revealed he’s in hospital following a crash.

Johnson was hit by a car on Saturday night, but is awake and talking to family while he continues his recovery.

More than 10,000 comments have been left for Johnson on the Love Your Sister charity Facebook page where his sister Hilde Hinton first shared news of the accident.

Music guru Molly Meldrum, who was played by Johnson in his 2016 mini series of his life, sent a special message to the man a Gold and Silver Logie for the role.

“I thought that Sam having to play me on TV was already enough bad luck, so I’m terribly sorry to hear Sam’s had an accident,’’ Meldrum said.

“I hope he recovers very soon, but as anyone who saw the miniseries knows, if you can run after a train in your undies then you’re pretty tough. Love you, Molly.”

Johnson was accidentally struck while on his way to visit family.

“I wish I didn’t have to tell you this,” Ms Hinton wrote.

“Our Ambos got him picked up and tucked away safely in hospital in record time.

“The fantastical medical staff are in overdrive taking care of his sore head.

“He’s awake and not too happy that he doesn’t have his pants – nobody loves a hospital gown.

“Hearing his voice is lovely, but can’t wait for hugs when it’s safe.”

Johnson created the Love Your Sister charity after his late sibling Connie Johnson dared him to unicycle around Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The actor — who was crowned Victoria’s 2018 Australian of the Year for his efforts — went on to raise more than $13 million through the charity.
