Builder gifts house to help Royal Children’s Hospital

BUILDERS Henley have donated a stunning five-bedroom home to help raise funds for sick kids in the Royal Children’s Good Friday Appeal.

FOR the 25th year, Henley will donate a house to the Royal Children’s Hospital for the Good Friday Appeal.

More than 400 tradies and suppliers have come together to produce a stunning five-bedroom home located at 13 Harfield Ave in Mickleham.

“Each year as we build the charity auction home, Henley has had the pleasure of being part of a wonderful community of trades and suppliers who come together and donate their time and resources in making this build possible,” Henley’s managing director Peter Hayes said.

The home, which is open for inspection for six weeks from February 24, will contribute to helping young kids facing tough battles like Ollie.

Ollie’s dad, Jordan Hornsey, said he and wife Taylah were faced with the question of whether to terminate the pregnancy due to only half of Ollie’s heart working properly.

“Ollie was born seven weeks early and the Royal Children’s Hospital had doctors and surgeons waiting for him the minute he was born,” Mr Hornsey said. “He was taken from us straight away and put in a capacity cot and transferred to the RCH where they put him on oxygen and other medical equipment to keep him breathing.”

Now two, Ollie has already had to endure nine heart surgeries with more on the horizon.

“One day he will have to have a heart transplant and we have no idea when it will be which is the scary part,” Mr Hornsey said.
