SPORTING little paws of mischief and tiny hearts of gold, these adorable dingo pups will be sure to draw crowds to the Macedon Ranges.

The six-week-old pups are the latest additions to join the pack at the Dingo Discovery Sanctuary and Research Centre in Toolern Vale, 35 minutes from the CBD.

Members of the public now have a rare chance to cuddle with the pups and tour the Dingo Den with open weekends running until mid to late August.

Dingo Discovery Centre keeper Kahlia Blake said it’s a great opportunity for people to meet both baby and adult dingoes and learn about why the breed is so important.

“People can spend some one on one with the puppies and meet all different types of dingoes,” she said.

“It’s probably one of the only places in the world you can get up so close and personal with this special animal.

“The 18 puppies are certainly a handful, they’re very very cheeky, intelligent and absolutely love to play.”

With crossbreeding killing off the Australian dingo, the new purebred pups will help bolster numbers around the globe.

They will will remain at the Dingo Discovery Centre for the next few months but once old enough to leave mum and dad they will be relocated to other wildlife parks here in Australia and around the world.
