George Calombaris partners with Qatar Airlines to roll out Greek-inspired cuisine for long haul passengers

GEORGE Calombaris has joined the mile-high club.
The restaurateur is now numbered among the celebrity chefs to create a restaurant-quality menu for airline passengers.
His Greek-inspired in-flight fare will be rolled out on Qatar Airways’ first class and business flights from Melbourne from October.

Economy passengers are expected to experience his signature touch early next year.
The classic Greek egg and lemon soup Avgolemono, Bastourma Beef short rib with onions and Potato a la greque and Fraser Island Crab with lemon marmalade and tabbouleh will be numbered among the mouth-watering options.
Calombaris said he was thrilled to get involved.

The MasterChef host follows in the footsteps of celebrity chefs who’ve partnered with major airlines including Neil Perry and Qantas and Luke Mangan and Virgin Australia.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said the airline was delighted with the partnership.
“We are certain his flair for creating dishes showcasing classic Greek flavours accompanied by fresh local produce will once again be a hit with our passengers.”
The new menu debuts on Adelaide, Sydney and Perth legs from September 1.
It will be available for Melbourne legs from October.
