Footy legend Gary Ablett Sr has been cleared after a police investigation into sex assault allegations.
An inquiry by specialist sex offence detectives has found there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the former Geelong superstar.
The Herald Sun revealed in March this year that Ablett has been questioned over the claims.
He had been accused of assaulting a woman in a car outside a house in country Victoria in the 1970s.
The woman, a mother-of-four, levelled the allegations in 2017 and gave police two statements on the matter.
A Victoria Police statement said: “Central Gippsland Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team have finished their investigation into a 57-year-old Grovedale man in relation to historic sexual assault allegations.

Ablett, of the Geelong suburb of Grovedale, was interviewed by investigators on March 25.
