Future Victoria 2019: Herald Sun series explores future opportunities and challenges for state

What do Victorians love about our state? And where do we want money to be invested to make it even better? A major Herald Sun series will explore the challenges — and opportunities — ahead for Victoria.

What is Future Victoria?

Victoria is the nation’s fastest growing state.

Our way of life and economic credentials drew more than 130,000 extra people over the past year in what statisticians remarked was an “extraordinary surge”.

Our success brings challenges. But there is also opportunity for bold and innovative thinking, and to change things for the better.

Over the next week, the Herald Sun will examine the needs of our state, the big ideas to make it even better and the key projects set to revolutionise everyday life.

The Future Victoria series, which started on Tuesday, October 22, will look at opportunities and challenges in key areas including community safety, health, liveability, education, jobs and transport.

Future Victoria will document the huge changes coming to community safety measures, road and public transport systems, the thought-provoking idea to shake-up schools and new ways to improve health outcomes for the seriously ill.

It will examine how technological advances will continue to change our lives.

Informed by a major survey conducted by PwC Australia in the first half of this year, it will explore what Victorians love about this state, and what people want to see improved in coming years.
