Shock video footage emerges of speeding Mercedes on Melbourne freeway

Police are reviewing distressing video footage of a Mercedes allegedly swerving through traffic and clocking 219km/h near Essendon DFO.

A self-proclaimed entrepreneur is under fire for posting a video inside a luxury car allegedly clocking more than double the speed limit in Melbourne.

Mitch Third uploaded shocking footage of a man allegedly swerving through traffic near Essendon DFO on the Tullamarine Freeway.

A male voice laughed as the Mercedes’ speedometer crept from 118km/h to 219km/h within seconds, 139km/h more than the limit.

The Queensland influencer posted the video to his 42,000 Instagram followers on Thursday but swiftly deleted it after fans called him out and reported him to Crime Stoppers.

The car was clocked driving up to 219km/h.

Mr Third travelled to Melbourne on Thursday.

“This is seriously so disgusting,” one woman said.

“It’s not even funny, he could’ve killed someone.”

But in a statement on Friday, Mr Third claimed the footage was filmed on June 23, 2021 and was not his video.

“Guys, yesterday’s video was not my video. I was not driving, filming or even in that car,” he said.

“I don’t condone speeding and shouldn’t have reposted the video thinking it was acceptable.”

It’s understood the retired rugby player was in Melbourne on Thursday for a work trip.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the video was being reviewed.

The former rugby player is an influencer and entrepreneur.

“Victoria Police is aware of a video circulating on social media showing apparent high-speed driving behaviour,” she said.

“The incident was not reported to police for investigation however we are reviewing the video.”

It comes as court documents showed that Mr Third’s former girlfriend, Tahlia Skaines, accused him of owing her thousands of dollars. 

The allegations follow a bitter dispute between the pair over their e-commerce clothing company, 3rdphix Collection. 

Ms Skaines, who has more than 800,000 followers on Instagram, also accused Mr Third of “threats of violence” in which he denied the allegations.
