A VICTORIAN woman got the shock of the season after she found a live tiger snake wrapped like tinsel on top of her Christmas tree.
The Frankston woman made the creepy Christmas discovery after the creature slithered through an open door at her home earlier today.
Professional snake catcher Barry Goldsmith, who was called to the home, said the unnamed woman kept calm and didn’t “act like a pork chop” despite the seasonal scare.
“This lady was pretty cool,” said Mr Goldsmith, who released the roaming reptile into the wild after catching him. “I’ve had them screaming and crying.”
Mr Goldsmith, who runs Snake Catcher Victoria, said he had found snakes in the most unusual places while on the job.
“I’ve found snakes in toilets, I’ve found snakes in Uggs,” he said.
Tiger snakes, which are found across southern Australia, have a venomous bite that is potentially fatal to humans.
