LOCALS where a monkey bike fatally struck young mum Andrea Lehane have been urged to help end the illegal riding scourge before the tragedy is repeated.
Frankston Council has taken the extreme step of imploring residents to help authorities find out where rogue riders live.
An open letter will be issued to all residents next week.
All Frankston councillors have signed the letter, which expresses “deep sadness” over Mrs Lehane’s death.
The 34-year-old mother of two was hit when walking across a pedestrian crossing at Carrum Downs Regional Shopping Centre on September 23.
The council and police flagged a crackdown on illegal riding of monkey bikes in public following Mrs Lehane’s death.
Both have waged a long-running battle against the problem — in 2007 introducing a law that has resulted in more than 315 motorcycles impounded, of which 254 were destroyed.
Caleb Jakobsson, 18, faces charges over Mrs Lehane’s death, including culpable driving. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have also been charged
