AFTER going through some “pretty heavy stuff” in the past year, former footy WAG turned power-blogging single mum, Abby Gilmore has urged women of all ages to not be afraid to ask for help.
Gilmore, 23, found herself a single mum with two young daughters after splitting from Western Bulldogs premiership player Jake Stringer last year.
“There are days when I feel like a hero, and I feel like I have my life together,” she said.
“And I have all these messages I would love to share, and that I am doing so well,”
“And then there are days when I can’t get out of bed and I need help to function, and that is OK,” she said.
“It does not matter what you go through. Pain is pain and we all suffer from certain things, but if we are taking the right steps to get help, and know it is OK to ask for help, then that is the key message from me.”
Gilmore was speaking at the Williamstown Football Club’s Ladies Day along with best mate Haylea Cooney, wife of Brownlow Medallist, Adam Cooney.
“She says she is older than me, but I keep her young and she keeps me wise,” she said.
