A local footy player has been slapped with a hefty suspension after he was involved in a lewd public sex during Mad Monday celebrations.
Shocking video footage of the incident widely circulated on social media last year that involved players at Glen Waverley Football Netball Club.
The video showed a player exposing his genitalia before another man performed a sex act on him at the Mountain View Hotel on August 14, 2022.
The player was found guilty of breaching Eastern Football Netball League’s statement of rules 6.1.1 “conduct unbecoming of a member” after an investigation was completed in March.
He was handed a suspension of eight matches for the 2023 season which began last week.
The suspended player was forced out of Glen Waverley but signed with Oakleigh District Football Netball Club.
It’s understood the video of the sex act was filmed by another player who then forwarded it to a mate.
It was then uploaded to a Mad Monday page on Facebook which posts wacky celebrations of football and netball clubs around the country.
The scandal went viral, making international headlines with the story splashed across TMZ and the New York Post.
The club received heavy backlash – sponsors pulled the pin and parents withdrew their kids out of the junior programs.
In February, the club announced it would not field a senior men’s team this year.
