GLAMOROUS grandma Freda Miles is out to prove age is just a number.
The Forest Hill senior, who turned 100 today, shows no signs of slowing down.
Known for her immaculate fashion and high heels, Ms Miles spends five days a week volunteering between her local op shop, This N That, and at a youth support charity.
“I just love what I do, I love helping people and I love chatting,” she said.
“It’s only by God’s grace that I’m well and have the strength to do what I want to.
“On public holidays I ask the shop ‘what am I supposed to do?’ because I don’t want to be at home.”
At This N That, Ms Miles serves at the counter and prices all incoming clothing, joking that she’s to blame if someone complains about an item being too expensive.
While she doesn’t have a secret to longevity, Ms Miles said she walks regularly and steers clear of alcohol.
Her daughter Jenny Miles said her mum’s social calendar was often busier than hers.
“She’s not wasting any time that she’s been given in life, she’s just blossomed,” she said.
Ms Miles has two daughters, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
She celebrated her milestone surrounded by 80 friends and family.
