AN explicit graffiti mural starring Pauline Hanson in Melbourne’s northern suburbs was torn down after complaints over its crude nature.
The offending image featured Hanson censoring an image of a naked male’s behind.
The Herald Sun has chosen not to show the image due to its graphic nature.
The graffiti artist slapped his work on a brick wall next to a vacant storefront on the corner of Evans and Lygon streets in Brunswick.
The image was in clear sight of two tram routes and heavy road and foot traffic who travel along the popular Melbourne street.
Moreland City Council director of city infrastructure Grant Thorne said the graffiti was removed after a shocked passer-by who alerted the council.
“Officers inspected and removed the graffiti on Tuesday morning,” he said.
“It was not removed due to its political nature but because it contained explicit imagery.”
The Herald Sun has contacted Senator Hanson for comment.
It is the latest mural across Melbourne to attract attention for its graphic nature.
Controversial Melbourne-based artist ‘Lushsux’ has gained notoriety for a string of murals depicting notable figures like Kim Kardashian, Hillary Clinton and Taylor Swift.
