ESSENDON players have thrown their support behind AFL legend Neale Daniher, donating $5000 to help fight motor neurone disease.
Flanked by his nephew, Dons forward Joe Daniher, Neale was yesterday presented with a cheque from the football club for his charity, FightMND.
Players traded the club’s red-and-black colours for the day and donned blue beanies. They have become synonymous with the charity, which was launched in 2014.
FightMND has raised more than $15 million and that figure is expected to skyrocket after the third annual Big Freeze at the ’G during Monday’s Queen’s Birthday blockbuster, between Collingwood and Melbourne.
Australian sporting greats Lleyton Hewitt, Steve Hooker, Alisa Camplin and Steve Bradbury have agreed to go down the ice slide on game day — with another six
big names still to be announced.
Big Freeze 3 Beanies are available to buy through the charity’s website, with all funds going toward MND research.
