A “Karen” BMW driver who blocked traffic to take photos of another driver following a minor prang has been slammed as “entitled” and a “silly woman”, but the internet is divided over who’s at fault for the bingle.
Dashcam footage shows the woman’s red BMW speeding up to overtake the other driver, clipping the front of his car.
The little nudge occurred on Burke Rd, Kew – near the intersection with Belmore/Harp Rd – about 10.30am on August 13.
Footage shows the woman hit the front of the young man’s car as she merges into his lane.
The footage, posted to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page, has angered viewers, who have slammed the actions of the “typical BMW driver”, and called her out for being a “Karen”.
“Why do all Karens use the same pose when they’re taking a photo?,” one woman posted.
“Why do they think they are so entitled, and own the road because they have expensive cars?,” another wrote.
“Annoying driver that tried to zip around to get one car in front. So pointless!,” wrote another.
One man said: “Don’t you know I’m entitled to cut you off?”.
“Overtaking on the outside where there is no lane whatsoever then merging carelessly – that BMW driver should hand in her licence.”
“I know that intersection well … so many people do not indicate to change lanes, then smart arse drivers like BMW driver always get impatient and cut you off.”
The driver of the other car has also been praised for remaining calm after being hit.
“How nice is the person that just got hit. He didn’t swear at the lady.”
“I applaud the (dashcam) driver’s restraint. I don’t think “silly woman” would have been the words I used.”
But others threw blame his way, saying he was at fault for not indicating either.
“Clearly DC’s fault,” one man wrote.
“Dashcam at fault if he didn’t use the blinker. Blind Harry knows those lanes merge up.”
