MORE than 57,000 people have jumped on the state government website that helps them find a better electricity and gas deal since a new $50 bonus was unveiled.
The Sunday Herald Sun revealed last week that the cash bonus would be available to every household in Victoria between July 1 and December 31, if they visited the Energy Compare site.

The $48 million pledge is aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures while encouraging families to find better deals.
Premier Daniel Andrews welcomed news so many people had already visited the website. Visits were up 40,000 on those during the week before.
“The more people who visit, the more people will save,” Mr Andrews said.
St Vincent de Paul Society policy and research manager Gavin Dufty said while the $50 wasn’t available until July, people shouldn’t wait.
“Go to the website now because the money you save could be more than the $50 you get later on,” he said.
Households that register after July 1 get the cash splash regardless of whether they change electricity deals or not.
