DUSTIN Martin has made his mark in Richmond overnight — and it’s not his Brownlow Medal.
Martin has been immortalised in a mural painted on a wall at the Rowena Corner Store on Alfred St overnight, after he polled a record 36 votes at the Brownlow Medal count last night.
Martin has a fist and arm raised in the air in celebration with his infamous tattoos on show.
Puma, who sponsor Martin and the club, paid Melbourne graffiti artists Dvate and Danny Awes, to paint the work of the AFL’s top player last night.
Puma had the idea in the pipeline for a while, getting approval from the relevant authorities, in anticipation of Martin taking Charlie home.
The sporting brand went to Danny Awes’ house to film them watching the count and once his victory was certain, the artists went straight to work painting the wall 10.30pm.

The pair worked under flood lights — powered by the cafe’s electricity — from 10.30pm until 5.45am and finished it with a “Congrats Dusty” message.
Danny Awes said he had been approached by Puma about a week ago and jumped at the opportunity to work with a friend.
“I love the Brownlow. It is one of my favourite nights of the year,” he said.
“I forced myself to go to bed for a few hours but woke up for the last hour-and-a-half. With three rounds left to go, we knew he’d won and packed the car.”
Up to 20 colours of spray paint and 10 cans of paint were used in the artwork.
Danny Awes said it was great to have Puma value their work and want to share it with others.
“It really was about celebrating the Brownlow and it was about him,” he said.
Puma even kitted the street artists out in “really cool shoes” and a Richmond jacket.
Blender Studios director and artist Adrian Doyle said it was “a very high-quality piece, really well painted”.
Rowena Corner Store’s Con Coustas said Richmond going into a Grand Final was the most exciting thing that had happened in years, and gladly worked on the project.
“This is our boy. The team comes through here and we feed them. Our relationship goes back many years,” the Tigers fan said.
“This was a no-brainer. He is a champion. We are in the Grand Final, it's very exciting.”
The graffiti art is part of a Puma marketing campaign to bring Tigers fans to the wall to take a selfie with the wall and post it on social media with the hashtag #teampuma.
The top three best posts — which also describe their love for Dusty under 25 words — will win a signed pair of Martin-worn boots, an exclusive 2018 RFC Replica Guernsey and a $250 Puma gift voucher.
