Police are investigating whether dozens of condom packets dumped in Lynbrook could be linked to an ongoing investigation into more than 100 sexually explicit letters being sent to former Kilbreda College students.

Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are appealing for public assistance after a cardboard box containing 88 condom packets were handed into police on Thursday.

Investigators have been told the sealed condom boxes were found dumped in wetlands near Patterson Drive in Lynbrook about 10am on Thursday, May 18.

It comes after the Herald Sun revealed this week that 65 women, who attended Kilbreda College in Mentone during the late 90s had come forward to police, reporting receiving packages containing handwritten messages and used condoms.

It’s understood all of the women targeted graduated from the school in 1999.

The first incident was reported to police on March 20, with the most recent occurring on May 15.

It is believed that most of the women who reported the material have received multiple letters, all with the suspected used item included.

Victoria Police officers believe the victims are linked and are part of a targeted attack.

Letters have been mailed to residential addresses across Melbourne’s southeastern and eastern suburbs.

It’s understood the women’s addresses could have been obtained from an old yearbook.

Bree Walker, from Melbourne’s southeast, who received one of the letters last month which was sent to her former address, told the Herald Sun this week the incidents were “disturbing” and “creepy”.

“I didn’t sleep the night I received the letter, it really creeped me out,” Ms Walker said.

“I found out that my friend also received a letter. I then messaged everyone from my year level and asked them if they received a letter and I found out that seven of them did,” she said.
