EXTRAORDINARY drone footage has captured the aftermath of the massive Coolaroo recycling factory fire.
MFB crews have today entered the seventh day of operations as the blaze continues to smoulder.
More than 30 firefighters remain on scene.
Footage from the brigade’s drone taken on Friday shows earth moving machinery pulling apart smouldering rubbish piles which are being treated with water and foam.
Several areas of fire are visible.
The MFB said its Remote Piloted Aircraft System drone team had been deployed to the recycling plant.
Thermal imaging technology will be used to map hot spots.
Firefighters were expected to continue operations at the site for several days to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
The site will then be handed back to its owners.
“MFB will continue to work with SKM, the EPA and Hume City Council regarding the ongoing management of the site,’’ the MFB said.
A relief centre established at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre for affected residents was last night closed.
Those still with concerns can phone Hume City Council on (03) 9205 2200.
Free health checks are available at the Broadmeadows Super Clinic.
