The girlfriend of a popular reggae DJ who was viciously bashed outside a Toorak nightclub by four men says she is “traumatised” from the alleged attack as her boyfriend remains critically injured in hospital.

Darrien Fisher, 23, who performs under the name DJ Dazz, performed at Jacksons Hotel on New Year’s Eve at a Sounds of Africa event before he was repeatedly punched and kicked outside the club as he was leaving to go home about 3am.

His girlfriend, a 20-year-old Endeavour Hills woman who was also physically assaulted, told the Herald Sun: “I am very traumatised. I am not mentally OK right now. I am very grateful they have been denied bail.”

Four men, Michael Nous, 19, Mohamed Buram, Ayoub Abdulrahman, 19, and Cleveland Momia, 23, were charged with recklessly causing injury in circumstances of gross violence, affray and assault.

The quartet were allegedly leaning on the bonnet of Mr Fisher’s white Jeep Compass before the altercation unfolded, the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday.

Prosecutors said Mr Fisher asked the men “politely” remove themselves from his car, which prompted one to retaliate with a slur.

Mr Fisher was punched by Mr Momia, of Dandenong, before the remaining trio “continuously” kicked him across his head, groin and back.

His girlfriend jumped to the ground in a bid to protect him but was also injured while doing so.

Darrien has been described as a “friendly guy”.

Mr Fisher was left unconscious and covered in blood while the four co-accused fled the scene.

Police allege Mr Momia said to his co-accused “boys we need to dip” before leaving.

Detective Senior Constable Christos Pappas told the court CCTV from a nearby Woolworths captured “most of the incident” including the moment from when the alleged victim fell to the ground.

A colleague who performed alongside Darren Fisher described him as a “friendly guy”.

“He was outgoing, I never saw him in any trouble,” DJ colleague Dizzy Dee said.

“He is a friendly guy.”

Dizzy Dee said Mr Fisher had enjoyed a few drinks after his set before leaving the club.

“It’s a really sad time, it is the festive season, we all want to have a good time,” he said.

“It is really sad and shocking.”

He said Mr Fisher’s girlfriend was seen crying with blood on her dress in the aftermath of the attack.

“She was really distraught,” Dizzy Dee said.

“They were causing problems outside. They had an issue but I don’t know what it was about.”

The four men will return to court in March.
