Death in custody: Inmate dies at Melbourne Assessment Prison
A prisoner has died inside the Melbourne Assessment Prison, with paramedics unable to save the inmate after attending the Spencer St complex.

A prisoner has died at the Melbourne Assessment Prison this morning.
The Herald Sun understands the death at the Spencer St complex is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
A spokesman for Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics were called to the prison this morning.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said: “Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after the body of an inmate was discovered at a Correctional facility in Melbourne this morning.
“It is believed the 40-year-old man was located deceased about 8.30am.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
