Shocking footage has captured the moment a driver struck a young girl with his car on a residential Melbourne street.
In a video filmed by the driver’s dashcam, the little girl carrying a doll suddenly emerges from the side of the street before she is knocked over by the front of the driver’s vehicle as he slams on the brakes.
The young girl’s father then angrily yells out to the driver, slamming his fist onto the bonnet of the car before rushing to his daughter’s side.
She can be heard screaming hysterically while crying, her father yelling at the driver as he scoops her into his arms.
She appears to escape serious injury as she begins to stand up off the ground.
“What did you do?” the father can be heard yelling.
“She is all right?” the driver asks.
It is not clear at what speed the driver was travelling when he struck the girl, or on which suburban street the ordeal took place.
The confronting video was posted by dashcam Owners Aus, which prompted an onslaught of sympathy for both the driver, the young girl and her father.
“Just luck that kid is still alive, that hit would be enough to kill someone,” one social media user wrote.
“His (the driver’s) reflexes save that poor girl,” another said.
