Dashcam footage has emerged of a frightening collision that left a woman trapped sideways in her flipped car on a major thoroughfare in Melbourne’s southeast.
A Toyota Hiance van is seen in the footage pulling onto the Princes Highway from the median turning lane in Noble Park on Wednesday.
The van, driven by a 48-year-old man from Noble Park, ploughs into the side of the Mazda while merging, flipping the car and sending it skidding on its side across three lanes.
Police say the driver of the Mazda, a 55-year-old woman from Dandenong, was “trapped for some time” before being rushed to hospital.
The woman was in a stable condition at The Alfred Hospital as of Friday.
Police are investigating if the driver of the Toyota failed to give way.
