Dashcam footage shows car plough through fatal Strathmerton intersection

Chilling footage has emerged of a car ploughing through the same Strathmerton intersection that claimed five lives just two days earlier.

Chilling dashcam footage has emerged of the moment a car drives straight through the same intersection which claimed the lives of five people in Strathmerton on Thursday.

The footage, captured just before midnight on Saturday and posted to social media, shows a vehicle driving north on Labuan Rd and across the Murray Valley Highway into Stokes Rd.

Parts of the car become airborne and sparks fly as it hits the road in the middle of the highway.

In an eerily similar situation to Thursday’s crash, a truck is also seen travelling east along the highway as the vehicle fitted with the camera is travelling west.

The Murray Valley Highway reopened to traffic on Saturday morning following a horror crash that claimed the lives of five people.

Doncaster man Christopher Joannidis, 29, was charged with five counts of dangerous driving causing death following the incident, which has been dubbed the worst crash on Victorian roads in more than a decade.
