THE spooky appearance of a “ghost car” crashing into a ute on a Melbourne motorist’s dash cam video has sparked a spirited debate about where on earth the car came from.
The video, posted on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page, shows traffic turning right through traffic lights at a Cranbourne intersection when, seemingly out of nowhere, a silver Holden Astra hatchback appears and crashes into a turning ute.
Commenters could not work out how the hatch got there.
“It’s a ghost car - out of nowhere!!!,” commenter Pauline Rickard joked.
Shane Cisek said: “Silver car is going to need a new flux capacitor. Reappeared in the wrong part of time and space”.
James Groom said: “Where the hell did that silver car come from!!! Talk about freaky did not see it in the video at all till WAMMMMMO!”
Logic would suggest the Astra came through a red light on the oncoming lanes and ploughed into the turning traffic, but try as they might, people struggled to see the car enter the intersection before the point of impact.
It appears the dull weather makes the Astra tough to spot in the recording.
Many of the commenters called on drivers of silver and grey cars to stay visible by keeping their headlights on at all times.
