The weather has also cleared, with no rain or strong winds forecast in Melbourne this evening. Trains are running on the Hurstbridge and South Morang lines after damaging winds of more than 100km/h suspended services earlier today. Until 1.45pm buses replaced trains between Parliament and Clifton Hill stations after a tree fell on a train full of passengers at Jolimont this morning. About 400 commuters were left stranded inside the train, until they were evacuated onto the tracks and led to safety. Services on the Pakenham line are also running to schedule after a tree fell on tracks between Narre Warren and Hallam stations. Metro said the incident was cleared about 10.10am. Another report of tree over tracks at Wurundjeri Way was also cleared at 10.15am. Vic Roads said there were no major storm related incidents affecting roads for the commute home, although crews were still cleaning up from this morning. Showers in the city’s southeast are forecast tomorrow, with the mercury rising to 24C. It’ll be cooler on Friday dipping to a 22C with a chance of showers. Saturday will be a stellar 28C with blue skies and sunshine. The temperature will drop to 24C with a chance of showers on Sunday. The working week will start with a high of 26C before rising to a sunny 32C Tuesday. At least 62,000 homes were without power statewide, with United Energy reporting 37,032 outages, Ausnet 14,357, Jemena 5107, CitiPower 2011 and Powercor 3322 about 10.30am. Services have since been restored to about 51,000 homes, but at least 11,000 customers still remain without power at 2pm. The wind was so strong it even blew over a shipping container at Laverton.
