Corinella shooting: Loud music playing at property before reports of shooting

Locals say there was partying and loud music coming from a property in Corinella before emergency services were called to reports of a shooting.

Locals say loud music was playing at a home in the beachside town of Corinella before emergency services were called to reports of a shooting.

Officers were told two men carrying firearms attended a property on The Esplanade about 2am on Sunday.

Police believe there was an altercation between the residents of the house and four other people inside the property before a shot was fired.

The victims received a non-life threatening injury and were assessed at the scene by paramedics.

Police are still investigating but believe all parties were known to each other.

Nearby residents of the quiet waterfront town said there was partying and loud music coming from the property subject to the violent outburst early Sunday morning.

The residents, who wished to remain anonymous, said they heard yelling and swearing coming from the house but no gunshots could be heard over the music.

“There were a few people at the house having some drinks and playing loud music and then a car rocked up which is when the argument began,” one resident said.

“I don’t know how long they were there for but the music was really loud, we heard screaming and swearing but didn’t hear any gunshots,” they said.

“Police arrived and were investigating but it sounds like they know all the people involved,”

There was little activity on the waterfront street on Sunday afternoon outside of locals and visitors coming in and out from the Corinella jetty.
