The Environment Protection Agency has demanded a recycling plant that was the site of a major blaze stop accepting waste materials.
Authorities have slammed SKM Recycling’s storage of combustible materials as “completely unacceptable”.
SKM’s Coolaroo facility was the site of two major blazes, one of which burned for 11 days and sent smoke across Melbourne.

The ban will mean SKM will have to stop accepting waste materials at both its Coolaroo and Laverton North sites, which could prove problematic for 12 Victorian councils that rely on SKM’s services.
But Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said there would be little change for Victorians.
“We are working on contingency plans with councils so there is no disruption to kerbside recycling collection,” she said.
“Victorians should keep recycling as normal.”
The recycling company has been accused of storing the large stockpiles of highly flammable materials in proximity to potential sources of ignition.
