A prominent Melbourne doctor with links to former bikie boss Toby Mitchell has been arrested in connection with a $30 million drug importation plot.

Chiropractor Dr Warren Sipser was arrested at his Elwood clinic over a liquid cocaine-smuggling plot and was likely to spend Christmas in jail.

He was arrested as part of a federal police probe into the alleged importation of 291kg of the drug in wine bottles.

In March 2015 the Supreme Court of Victoria heard the doctor was involved in treating the feared ex-Bandidos enforcer Mitchell.

A court transcript stated Dr Sipser “prescribed apple cider vinegar” to Mitchell to support his renal function.

Mitchell’s court case related to alleged threats he made to kill a man and his baby daughter over an alleged $300,000 extortion attempt.

Evidence of Dr Sipser’s treatment was submitted in support of Mitchell’s failed bail application.

The Herald Sun is not suggesting Mitchell is involved in the liquid cocaine importation.

As part of the sprawling AFP investigation into the liquid cocaine importation, officers arrested two men on July 6 before releasing them without charge.

The men were arrested in Tallarook while driving a white Toyota Hilux.

Police believe the pair had collected a pallet wrapped in black plastic from the Elwood area on the same day.

The men were released with the AFP appealing for members of the public who may have seen the van in Elwood that day to come forward with information.

The probe continued and police swooped to arrest Dr Sipser earlier this month.

Patients were inside his Ormond Rd family clinic when AFP officers made the arrest.

He has been charged with offences linked to the massive drug importation.

Dr Sipser, a fitness fanatic, is also well known for his controversial views on the vaccination of children.

He co-authored a book with his former wife, TV personality and author Andi Lew, which talks about the “dangers of vaccinations.”

And in 2011 he criticised a decision made by the Family Court to order a five-year-old girl to be immunised.

Ms Lew yesterday told the Herald Sun she was not aware of the arrest.

Dr Sipser has one young child with Ms Lew, who describes herself as a wellness expert.

In a statement issued by her lawyer, Ms Lew said she was saddened by the news of Dr Sipser’s arrest, but their relationship had ended more than six years ago.

“I’m shocked and saddened at the news of the allegations around my ex-husband.

“In the 13 years that I was with Dr Warren Sipser, we didn’t even have any ‘over the counter medications’ in our home, as we ascribe to natural living.

“Since our separation, I’ve worked hard within our community as a single mother to establish my own career and support our son.”

Dr Sipser is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 18.

The AFP declined to comment as the investigation is ongoing.
