Container truck smashed into the Napier Street bridge in Footscray
DESPITE 28 bridge height warning signs, another truck has crashed into a notorious bridge in Melbourne’s inner west. The truck has lost a shipping container in the smash.

ANOTHER container truck has smashed into a notorious bridge in Melbourne’s inner west, blocking a road.
The truck hit the Napier Street railway bridge in Footscray about 2pm and knocking its container onto the road.

VicRoads have said the road is blocked westbound and crews are heading to the scene.
Work was done in 2017 to upgrade the 4m high bridge, which has been struck by trucks more than 60 times since 2010.
There are five height detection devices and 28 bridge height warning advisory signs on the approaches to the Napier Street Bridge.

“The container is on the road and it will take a little while for it to be cleared,” a spokeswoman told the Herald Sun.
