Child critically injured after being hit by vehicle in Heyfield

A young boy has been flown to hospital where he is fighting for life after he stepped off a bus and was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road in Gippsland.

A young boy is fighting for life after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road in Heyfield in Gippsland.

The primary school-aged child was treated for upper body injuries and flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition on Friday afternoon.

Police said the boy was struck by an oncoming vehicle after he hopped off a bus about 3.45pm.

The incident happened at the intersection of Mary and Anderson streets.
