A HARDWORKING backyard brewer has finally cracked the perfect coldy.

After years of concocting brews under the roof of his car port, land surveyor Ryan Molesworth has landed a deal that will see his beer delivered to loungerooms across Melbourne.

Last week the dedicated brew master won the HopsAboard competition, a crowdfunded campaign that will see 1000 litres of his winning beer branded and brewed for commercial sale.

It will be delivered to households via new service Tipple.

“There has always been room for a little experimenting but really for me it’s been about trying to create the simple kind of beer that people really enjoy — not necessarily to blow their minds,” Mr Molesworth said.

His winning brew, created with the help of mate David Fisher, is a German-style Hefeweizen.

With a hint of banana, he said it would be a great beer for the warmer months.

“It sounds weird but it makes sense when you taste it,” he said.

“People are surprised to learn that there is no banana in the brew, it is just the yeast and the malt that is able to bring out that characteristic.”

Aside from entering a few local competitions and brewing a batch for a cousin’s wedding, this will be the first time Mr Molesworth has shared his beer with anyone outside his family and close friends.
