A CENTURY of Tiger blood runs strong and bold through the daughters of Molly Flaherty in a clan now made up of five generations of Richmond supporters.
Sophie Finemore said it was a dream come true that family matriarch Molly Flaherty, 100, would be able to watch the Tigers run onto the MCG while sitting next to her great-great-granddaughter, six-week-old Matilda May Sorby.
“My nana (Ms Flaherty) grew up on Mary St in Richmond and her brother played for the club in the 30s and 40s,” she said.

“She has been a Richmond supporter forever and the family has followed along.
“Everyone is, of course, a big Dustin Martin fan, although when we asked Molly who her favourite was, the first name that came to her lips was Jack Dwyer.”
The centenarian received letters from Queen Elizabeth II and the Richmond Football Club when she celebrated her 100th birthday.
The team letter is closely guarded by her bedside while the monarch’s mail remains safe but further away in a cupboard.
Ms Finemore said she was hopeful the family could find a way to get Ms Flaherty and other family members to the MCG.
“I’m 31 so I’ve never ever seen the Tigers make a grand final but my grandmother and great grandmother have only ever been to one each.
“It is tragic being a Richmond supporter at times. We’re just happy they’re in the final at all.”
