Ritzy Melbourne club Bar Bambi will headline a new trackside entertainment precinct at this year’s Caulfield Cup Carnival.
An exclusive pop-up supper club modelled on the CBD celebrity hotspot will form part of a new-look hospitality offering for racegoers more interested in cocktails than quaddies.
Inspired by the glamorous drinking dens of Los Angeles and Europe, Bar Bambi will serve up disco and dining for three days of the Carnival from a prime post in “The Avenue”, at the 2400m mark of the course.
The Herald Sun can also reveal a wine bar, promenade restaurant, revamped general admission area and new mounting yard experience will greet punters flocking to Caulfield this spring.
Melbourne Racing Club executive Alana Bray said this year’s precinct had been designed to get racegoers closer than ever to the action.
“We’re really bringing everyone right to the trackside,’’ she said.
“The idea for us is that you don’t have to move.
“A lot of major events to see what you’re there for whether it’s racing or the sport you’ve got to go to one place to do that and your activity is out the back, whereas we’ve brought everything on track right to the front.
“So if you’re standing in the one spot you won’t need to move all day – you will have live entertainment, all your food and beverage and your racing in the one place.’’
She said bringing Bar Bambi to the races would “no doubt entice a younger audience on course to enjoy everything brilliant that Caulfield has to offer”.
Bar Bambi co-founder Nick Russian said partnering with the Caulfield Cup Carnival was a natural fit.
“The event has been a standout on the annual calendar for many years and we look forward to
showcasing our Bambi entertainment and experience to a wider audience,’’ he said.
The new GA enclosure has been modelled on the Australia’s Open’s popular Grand Slam Oval, with lounge pods, furniture tapering out to the track and dedicated Smirnoff, Canadian Club, Pirate Life and Yellowglen Pink Fizz bars.
“If you’re a general consumer and you’re coming on course you will see it’s so much more user friendly,’’ she said.
“And when you add Bar Bambi into the Ave, you’re actually right on the track and a lot closer to the action than ever before.’’
It will be the first year a new Caulfield 24,000 sqm events deck can be used in full.
