BUSES will replace trams for two weeks when Metro Tunnel construction ramps up on St Kilda Rd next week.
Motorists have been warned to expect an extra 30 minutes of travel time when using the road from April 1-17 as crews realign tram tracks around the Domain Interchange site.

A fleet of 60 buses will replace trams between the Shrine of Remembrance and Commercial Rd from April 6 while the Route 58 service will have buses between Fawkner Park and Park St from April 1.
“These works will be disruptive but are vital to build the Metro Tunnel,” Public Transport Victoria CEO Jeroen Weimar said.
Northbound lanes on St Kilda Rd will be closed between 10pm and 5am from April 7-12. Melbourne Metro Rail Authority CEO Evan Tattersall said the works would allow crews to build the new Anzac station directly under Domain Interchange.
