“I took him to the emergency department because he was complaining of growing pains in his legs,” she said.

“The x-ray showed he had a broken femur.

“I couldn’t explain why, he hadn’t had a fall or trauma.

Doctors later confirmed there was cancer in the bone, which had caused it to break.

“Life felt like it hasn’t taken enough away from my beautiful son,” his mother said.

Tyler, a year 10 student, was left “angry” by the diagnosis, which will take him away from school and attending Tigers games.

“He was loving school, especially woodwork. And he was really looking forward to work experience. I had to tell him all that would have to be on hold for now,” said Ms Fishlock.

“He is the most courageous young man in the world.

“Instead of crying he comforted me as I cried and told me that if I feel like crying I need to ask him for a hug.”

Tyler completely lost his sight in 2006, when doctors were forced to remove his remaining eye due to the rare genetic cancer, retinoblastoma

He beat cancer again in 2014, surviving aggressive chemotherapy and surgery.

Ms Fishlock said Tyler plans to “fight like he always does.”

“He’s older now. He knows it’s going to be a big battle,” she said.

Tyler faces 11 weeks of intense chemotherapy treatment before he undergoes surgery to remove the cancer and save his leg.
