Jye Eiffert killed in horror Bendigo crash
The Bendigo community has been rocked by the tragic death of 16-year-old Jye Eiffert, who has been remembered as a “fun-loving” and talented sportsman by heartbroken friends and family. It comes as an 18-year-old was charged over the horror crash that killed Jye and left another teen in a serious condition.

A teenage boy killed in a horror car crash in Bendigo has been remembered as a talented sportsman who loved his friends and family.
Jye Eiffert, 16, from Goornong, died after the car he was travelling in lost control and crashed into a tree on McCrae St about 3.15am on Monday.
Another passenger, an 18-year-old Bendigo West man, sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives charged the driver, an 18-year-old from Strathfieldsaye, with culpable driving causing death, dangerous driving causing serious injury and negligently cause serious injury.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Tributes are flowing for Jye, a fun-loving young man who played at clubs including the Bendigo Cricket Club and North Bendigo Football Netball Club.
Friend Brooke Grenfell said Jye brought joy to everyone in the community.
“Jye’s always been a friendly kid, anyone that knew Jye would always be able to feel appreciated from his welcoming nature and positive outlook on life,” she said.
“Jye always saw the best in people, he loved his family and friends immensely.
“His laugh and smile was contagious. Jye had a large impact on those around and close to him and will be dearly missed.”
More than 300 people have donated almost $20, 000 to help Jye’s family in the wake of the tragedy.
