Police investigated a car parked in front of the hospital on Grattan St after concerns were flagged that it contained dangerous gases.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital called a “code purple” in relation to the incident.
The hospital said in a statement that it had been “working with Victoria Police following an incident out the front of the hospital”.
“Thank you to Victoria Police and RMH staff for their quick action during the incident,” the hospital said.
